With the music pounding through the speakers and the alcohol running through her body, Grace could feel her head spinning. This was the first time she had been in this kind of environment for a long time and it was beginning to feel as though she wasn't even in her own body. She felt like she was stood at the sidelines, watching over the whole thing, fearful of what her intoxicated self was going to do next. She was watching on with so much more sense than her current drunken self had, yet she couldn't do anything to stop it.
"Don't let go." Grace warned as she clung onto Harvey, as they danced alongside their peers within a sweaty huddle.
"Or you might fall over." He teased back, knowing full well that she had very little stability right now.
"I'm not taking my chances."
"What if I just..." Harvey began as he let go of Grace with one hand, causing her to immediately reach out and grab him once again.
"Harvey!"
"...or I just..." He continued yet this time he released her with both hands and watched as she immediately began to stumble back. This time, he made the move to take hold of her, reaching his arm around her waist and urging her back to his body. "Got you."
"You're a twat."
"Thank you."
That smug smile across Harvey's face shouldn't have meant anything to Grace, but in this moment, she saw it as a challenge. He didn't want to stop. He wanted to continue this night doing anything he could to tease her, just in an attempt to get a reaction out of her and it was working.
"Do you want another drink?" Harvey leaned down as he spoke, brushing his lips right by Grace's ear to ensure she heard him. However, in her intoxicated state, that gesture only made her think of one thing and that was when the alarm bells began ringing.
"I don't think I should have anymore. I can barely stand." Grace refused as she pulled her head back to look up at him.
"Wise mum decisions."
"Shut up."
"This does mean I have to drink another for you though, that was the deal wasn't it?" Harvey raised his brow causing a smile to fall across Grace's lips.
"Yeah, I think that was the plan."
Taking hold of Harvey's hand, she then began guiding him towards the kitchen on the hunt for whatever alcohol was left. It wasn't until she came to a stop at the empty table, that she felt Harvey's hand drop from hers, causing her to turn around. When she did, she noticed his eyes on her, skimming down her body and then back up to her face.
"What?" Grace bit, holding out her arms before steadying herself from stumbling again.
"You look incredible."
"You've only just noticed that? Thanks."
"No." Harvey began shaking his head and it was obvious he was struggling to collect his words to form real sentences fast enough. He probably didn't need anymore alcohol either. "I noticed it when you got here but I also noticed it that first night you came out with us. You always look incredible."
Grace was watching Harvey with a smile on her face, allowing him to throw these compliments her way. Listening to his drunken slur was incredibly amusing as his flirtatious act was no longer subtle and instead he was incredibly direct about it.
"Don't really know why I never made a move." Harvey's next words caused Grace's mouth to drop open, as she watched him in shock.
She knew alcohol made him more direct but this was on a whole new level and she wasn't sure how to handle it.
"Wait, what?"
"I never made a move."
"and did you want to?" Grace asked, knowing she should have ignored his comment but she couldn't.
"Possibly."
"That doesn't really answer my question. Yes or no?"
Skimming his eyes down the length of her body and back up to her face again, Harvey finally took the few steps that was separating them, so they were now stood toe to toe.
"It depends." Harvey continued, as his hand scaled around her waist.
That simple touch was enough to send a wave of butterflies to erupt through Grace's body. She was trying to compose herself, to act unfazed but it was impossible. She had such a desperation for this right now and whether it was the alcohol or not, really didn't matter.
"On what?"
Harvey's hand then began to trail up Grace's neck as his fingers trailed over the skin. He could feel her heart beat pounding through her body and he could feel the heat of her skin in every place he touched. This gave him all the conformation that he had been searching for.
Slowly leaning forward, Harvey purposely teased the moment as he brushed his lips over her ear.
"On how you'll react." He breathed before leaving a lingering kiss to the side of her face.
Grace's hand instantly reached out to grab hold of Harvey's shirt. She suddenly felt lightheaded, which she was convinced was due to the alcohol but also due to his touch. She wanted to come back with a smart comment to make him work for it however, that was proving incredibly difficult as her longing for him just continued to build.
"...and whether you'll push me away." Harvey continued as his mouth was now hovering over her lips.
When he made no effort to make the move, Grace tilted her own head forward so her lips brushed against his. That small movement was enough to create that wave of emotions through her once again but before she had chance to process it, Harvey kissed her. He didn't hold back as he gave in to the temptation and did the one thing he had been dying to do all night.
Grace didn't refrain from kissing him back either, letting her heart rule this moment rather than allowing the rational part in her brain to take over. Instead, she clung onto Harvey's shirt, urging him closer as they kissed. Everything else around them was a blur, none of it mattered. All that mattered was the feelings this boy was currently giving her as they both let their intoxicated minds take the lead.
