Sophie's POV:

After many drinks had been consumed, I had suddenly found myself lost in that misted mindset where I wasn't all that sure what was going on around me. One thing I knew for sure though, was that the music was pounding, almost deafening to my ears and the pretty faced male was still very much in my presence.
After I had walked away earlier with every intention of not speaking to him again, things hadn’t quite gone my way. Matt had been persistent and as much as I wanted to have enough willpower to keep him at bay, I failed miserably.
“How come I’ve never seen you around before now?” Matt asked, his own voice sounding slightly slurred.
He was leaning himself up against the wall and I was very much convinced that it was because he wouldn’t be able to stand if he let go.
“Because I don’t make ‘bumping into gang members’ part of my daily routine.” I bit back, finding some power within me to keep pushing this guy away.
“I bet you’re regretting that now.”
“Not really.”
Matt’s eyes seemed to linger on me for an extended amount of time. At first, I was slightly concerned I had truly offended him, but I soon realised where his eyes had fallen.
“You know, my face is up here, right?” I raised my brows accusingly and watched as his gaze drifted up once again.
“Fully aware.” He confirmed but I didn’t know who he was trying to convince here.
“I’d appreciate you actually holding a bit of eye contact then, rather than staring at my boobs.”
It was difficult to miss the smile sweeping its way across Matt’s whole face. However, it was even more difficult to ignore the effort he was putting in to fight temptation and not look down again.
Just as I was certain he was going to fail, he miraculously found a method of distraction in the conversation we had previously been having.
“Why are you so against the world of gangs? You really hate us, don’t you?”
“Hate is a strong word.” I began, while really considering how else I could put it. “…but yeah, I guess it fits.”
“Ouch. I guess I’ve got a lot of work to put in before you consider this ‘pretty face’ worthy of your time.” Matt retaliated and although his eyes had drifted from my face again, I couldn’t help but feel slightly more attracted to this guy then I wanted to be.
I had a boyfriend… kind of. We were pretty unpredictable and never really knew where we stood but he was still my boyfriend nevertheless. That meant that this pretty faced gang guy was supposed to be the least of my concerns tonight, while Isabella should have been my top priority.
I didn’t even know where she was at this point and I was the one who had been assigned the key role of keeping her out of trouble. I was supposed to despise this group of males who called themselves a gang. I was supposed to find them revolting and only see pure trouble but somehow, this persistent guy was changing my mind.
He was cocky, but he was sweet. He was overly persistent, but he made it look hot. I should have just walked away, grabbed Isabella and got out of here but I wanted to stay. I wanted to actually enjoy this night and I wanted this pretty faced gang member to be the one to show me that.
“Why don’t you get me another drink and we’ll see if you can change my mind.” I said with a suggestive smile over my face, which I was desperately hoping he would pick up on.
“You’re actually trusting me to get you a drink now? Damn! I’m winning you over fast.” Matt responded with genuine excitement in his voice, leading right through his body. He had a skip to his step as he immediately began making his way to the kitchen area.
“Don’t make me regret it.”
“You won’t.”
I hovered in the doorway of the kitchen while Matt barged through his fellow gang members to reach the drinks. I could sense many gazes falling on me, but my eyes were focused on Matt. It was bothering me so much that he wasn’t anything like I expected him to be. I wanted to dislike him. That was what I was here to do. I was meant to be frowning upon every single gang member in this room, so that Isabella realised George wasn’t worth her time.
Instead, here I was getting lured in by some guy all because I thought he was kind of hot, and had a face that looked like it had been carved by the angels. I was desperately trying to remind myself of Alec and make myself realise that there was no need for some gang member when I had him just a phone call away. However, for some reason that didn’t feel like enough. I was curious and that was making it difficult to say no.
Now I was truly beginning to understand how Isabella felt.
“Drink up.” Matt mocked as he passed the drink my way.
“What is it?” My eyes fell to the glass that I was now holding in my hand.
“I heard you like gin.”
I could have smiled and given him the pleasure of being right, but I really didn’t feel like giving in just yet. So instead, I sipped the cool liquid and tried to hide the satisfying look on my face as I felt his eyes on me.
“Good right?”
“What have you put with it?” I asked, genuinely curious and also already impressed if it was what I thought it was.
“Only the best raspberry lemonade you’ll ever try!” He sang, with the smuggest grin presented across his face.
He was making it so difficult to act calm right now. He was breaking every gang stereotype I had previously held securely in my mind.
“I’m impressed.” I nodded before taking another sip. “I thought you guys would only offer cheap beer.”
“You’ve got us completely wrong. I’ve tried telling you.” Matt held his hands out to his sides and it was then I knew I had to give in.
So far, he had barely lived up to the expectations I had held of him and his friends. He had broken down every wall I had held up with intentions of not letting my usual lack of self-control get involved with the bad boy. So now, here I was, placing my glass down on the side while holding my own hand out towards him. He looked as shocked as I was to do be doing this however, he soon dropped his hand into mine as I spoke.
“We need to dance.”
“I don’t-“ Matt began to say before I stopped him, already knowing what was going to fall from his lips.
“Yes you do. Tonight, you do.”
As I began urging Matt towards the crowds of people gathered in the centre of the room, his hand soon laced around my waist. It felt territorial, like he was trying to make a point to everyone else around him. While that usually bothered me, my stomach just swirled with excitement and a desperate need for this guy, even though I should have hated him.
Once we had emerged ourselves among the crowds, I only found myself being urged closer into Matt’s body. Whether it was because the crowd’s impact made it the only option, or he was just as desperate for some physical contact, I didn’t care.
Running my own hands up and around his neck, our bodies began moving to the music in a rhythmic manner. I was incredibly impressed, and a little surprised by it considering neither of us held much control in that moment.
Matt urged me even closer, if that were possible, causing my body to press tightly to his, no longer allowing any space between us. His hands then began to trail up the length of my body before cupping the side of my face. He held my gaze as he did so, causing my body to consume with so much heat. I felt light headed, not only due to the limited breathing space around us, but more due to the fact I knew what was going to happen.
Matt’s thumb made the first move by trailing over my bottom lip and I could tell he was holding back for confirmation from me. I was surprised yet it only made me much more eager.

Once I had given him the reassuring smile, it was only a matter of seconds from that significant gesture for him to make a move. Pressing his lips to mine, he kissed me, and I kissed him back. The intensity of that moment overtook the both of our bodies and I was no longer concerned with the what ifs and what I should have been thinking of this guy. Instead, I was only mindful of this current moment and the wave of desperation flooding through my body with every passing second.

Placing the shot glass onto the table at full speed, I was just about to shout out and make my winning known to the guys when something else caught my eye. With a skin tight grey dress covering her body and legs that never seemed to end, it was physically impossible to place my attention anywhere else.
"Hot, right?" Jay's voice suddenly brought me back down to reality, yet my eyes remained on that stunning individual ahead.
"Who is she?"
"Sophie-" Jay began to answer before immediately being cut off by George who come in between us, throwing his arms over our shoulders.
"She's Isabella's friend and I'm 100% sure she won't want you attempting to make a move, so back off."
Although George's voice was laced with a genuine warning, he was stupid to think I was going to listen. Isabella's opinions were not my problem, they were his, so I was more than happy to do as I pleased in this situation.
"I'm pretty sure she has a boyfriend too."
"She won't after tonight, that's for damn sure." Was my simple response as I began pouring out a drink, ready for her to approach us.
It was only a matter of seconds before she reached the kitchen alongside Isabella, and that gave me the perfect opportunity to sweep in. While she was having to wait for Isabella to cuddle up to George and make everyone want to throw up, it left her alone and uncomfortable. However, to my disappointment, she didn't look that uncomfortable at all. She actually looked quite the opposite and it didn't take long for her to start chatting to some other guy, as though she had known him for years.
I wasn't going to let that ruin my chances though. I never failed in this department, with a natural capability to win girls over. For some reason I always came across as the good guy; the sweet, genuine one whom women were immediately drawn to. I found it difficult to live up those standards once they got to know me, but holding that ability most definitely worked to my advantage.
"Drink up." Was all I said once I had approached Sophie, watching as the guy she had previously been talking to quickly disappeared at my presence.
Turning around to face me, Sophie was examining every inch of my body as though I was some unusual species she had never come across before. It took a lot for me to feel uncomfortable under a person's scrutiny but somehow, she had managed to make me feel weirdly on edge.
She was even more breath taking up close and I was beginning to wonder whether I was really dreaming. I had always thought George getting involved with a girl was the end of the world for this gang but now I was truly seeing the perks of it.
"You really think I'm going to take that from you?" Sophie finally spoke, yet they were not quite the words I was expecting to fall from her lips.
"What?"
"I know the whole 'never talk to strangers' nag is absolute shit but 'never take drinks from a stranger' is one I definitely live by."
Letting a cocky smile reach my lips, I held my spare hand out towards her.
"I'm Matt and you're Sophie." I announced, watching as she still didn't make any attempt to respond to my gesture. "Now we're not strangers anymore, you can take the drink."
Looking down to my hand, Sophie soon mirrored the smile on my face. However, instead of taking the drink she turned around and headed over to where the bottle of beers were stood. Opening one up, she turned back to face me before holding it out towards the glass I still had in my possession.
"Cheers. Drink up."
I watched and waited for her to take a sip of the alcohol in her hand yet when she didn't, I knew exactly what she was doing. She was waiting for me to do the exact same thing, but with the drink I had officially offered her.
"No can do." I muttered, trying to keep a still and placid expression throughout.
"Why's that?" She asked, her voice mesmerising to my ears; managing to calm my whole body yet desperately crave her at the same time.
"Why would I drink this? I drugged it didn't I?"
Raising my brows, I watched for her reaction, but she didn't even flinch. Taking a sip of the bottle in her own hand, she then turned on her heel before making her way towards the crowd.
Watching her leave, my eyes travelled the length of her body, examining every inch of it just as she had done to me. I couldn’t let her walk away. I would regret it for the rest of my long and painful life.
“Where are you going?” I asked once I was by her side again, yet she made no attempt to stop walking.
“Away from you.”
“Why?”
She didn’t answer me.
“Come on, this is a party. We’re supposed to be having a good time!”
"I'm not here to have a good time. I'm here to keep an eye on you all." Sophie suddenly deflected, only turning around momentarily before gliding through the crowds again, holding such grace among such chaos.
"Why's that?" I asked while trying to match her pace, not willing to let her walk away without feeling some kind of achievement within this exchange.
"I don't trust you and I'm trying to keep my best friend safe."
"Why don't you trust me?"
"Not just you, I don’t trust any of you."
Sophie finally came to a stop as she reached the front door, appearing as though she was almost debating walking out. I knew she wouldn't though. For as long as Isabella was in this house, she would be too, which instantly meant in my own mind I was winning.
"Why don't you trust us?" I re-phrased my sentence, trying to hide the small smile that want to spread across my lips.
"Because you are gang members and I'm pretty sure you kill people for a living. That's not exactly the most noble job in the world, is it?"
I saw her point. I couldn't argue with it, but I could definitely play with it a little.
"What life saving, world changing thing do you do for a living then? I'd love to hear more."
It was now Sophie's turn to try and hide the smile forming across her lips. I could see the effort she was putting in to prevent it from showing but she failed miserably.
I wanted to do a little jump of joy, to celebrate my accomplishment in winning her over. However, I also knew that would immediately rip off every 'gang member' exterior I was supposed to hold, especially at a party like this.
"I wish you didn't have such a pretty face, or I would have told you to fuck off by now." Sophie remarked, while catching my gaze in an accusing like stare.
“Well considering you don’t really know anyone at this party, you might want to stick around with this pretty-faced hunk and enjoy your night.” I responded, mirroring her smile which had very quickly turned into laughter.
“Did you just call yourself a hunk?”
“Yeah?”
“A hunk?”
“Yeah.” I repeated once again while this girl’s subtle laughs turned much less composed.
I wasn’t even aware I had just told a joke but if whatever I had said got her laughing, I wasn’t going to complain.
“What century is that from? Who even uses the word hunk anymore?!” Sophie exasperated, as though I had just caused her great offence.
“What’s wrong with it? It suits me better than pretty.”
“No, it doesn’t. I mean, look at that face.” Reaching forward, Sophie guided my head to look in the mirror before me. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a face so symmetrical. You have some good genes.”
Instead of looking at myself in the mirror though, my eyes gazed back at her. While she was overly concerned with the symmetry -whatever that meant- of my face, I couldn’t help but let my mind wander to things that some would deem inappropriate. Although in my mind they were totally acceptable, she may reconsider her option of not leaving, if she knew.
If this was any other girl, I would have made my move right away, but this was different. She was the friend of a girl George was involved with, meaning he would do whatever it took to impress and please Isabella. That most certainly included harming me if I made a move on her best friend.
“I can say the same for you.” I replied, remaining composed and doing everything to hide the inner caveman like traits of me from shining through.
“Are you going to drink that now?” Sophie suddenly darted the conversation away, her eyes falling to the glass in my hands.
“You still don’t believe I’m not some creepy guy, who can only get girls in my bed by drugging them?”
There it was. That uncontrollable caveman like trait coming out without me even getting chance to stop it. I couldn’t hold back. I couldn’t hide what I really wanted from her.
“I believe you’re a gang member and that’s all the proof I need to know that’s the case.” She disregarded the mention of creepy as her eyes flickered from the drink to my face once again. “Drink up.”
Although I was determined to gain her trust without having to drink the alcohol, I knew that was highly unlikely. She already held incredibly strong views about gang members, when I was almost certain she didn’t know much about us.
Therefore, tipping the glass back, I cleared the alcohol from the glass in one go, before dropping it down and being faced with a winning smile.
“Now d’you trust me?”
There was a pause for a moment.

“I don’t trust you, but I trust that you weren’t trying to drug me.” Sophie replied simply before turning and walking off in the opposite direction.

Sophie's POV "Have you seen Isabella lately?" Elliot asked me as he leaned back against the soft material of his sea...

Sophie's POV
"Have you seen Isabella lately?" Elliot asked me as he leaned back against the soft material of his seat.
Myself and a few friends were all gathered in an American styled diner in town which had very quickly become our usual meeting spot. It did the absolute best and most unhealthy food imaginable and also gave free drink refills. I didn't really think it could get better than that.
"Nope, she's been so MIA. I called her the other day but she was with George." I explained as that concern rushed through me once again. "I'm worried about her."
Isabella seemed to hold a lot more trust in the guy than any of us did and unfortunately that meant there wasn't a whole lot we could do about the situation. If she was happy I didn't want to ruin that but I also didn't want her getting caught up in something incredibly dangerous.
I knew the reputation George held and had heard about the things he had been involved in. If any of that stuff was true then I was certain that Isabella had made the worst choice in allowing him to get to know her.
"It's so unlike her." Juliet, Elliot's younger sister added, finally removing her eyes from the phone in front of her.
"Yeah, what happened to the shy version of Iz who despised the male species." Elliot continued before being immediately interrupted by Jack.
"Apart from me!" He raised his hand as a cocky smile spread across his face.
I couldn't help but laugh at Jack's predictable comment, even more so as it was kind of true. The five of us had all grown up together and Jack and Elliot had really been the only boys I ever knew Isabella to speak to since her brother passed away.
She had truly lost trust for most people and although that was incredibly sad, it was nice to know that she felt somewhat protected in the bubble of our friendship.
"I'm keeping my eyes on the whole thing so if it turns to shit, we better be ready to jump in." I added, already feeling as though something like that was looming. "I can spot a dickhead of a guy from miles away."
As Jack began to laugh, I immediately turned to look at him with a frown across my face. I didn't know what he found so funny but I wasn't so amused at him seeing my comment as a joke.
"What?!"
"Really?"
"Really, what?"
"You've dated the entire population of dickhead guys. I think your radar is a little off."
As my mouth dropped open, both the Lloyd siblings also couldn't help but smile, clearly agreeing with Jack's comment.
"That's so not true!"
"Alec?" Elliot raised his brow at me, as though I was going to out-rightly agree with him. "That on again, off again thing is toxic."
"For your information we are well and truly on. So my dickhead guy radar is doing just fine, thank you!"
Although I knew they were just trying to be good friends in this matter, I couldn't help but argue their judgement. I wasn't sure why my relationship with a very normal and maybe a little arrogant guy, was a huge issue when Isabella was currently hanging out with a gang member.
He killed people! I was sure of it and the worst Alec had probably done was punched a guy in a heated game of football. I really didn't see me as the biggest concern right now.
"Isabella's the one you should be frowning at. That girl went from hiding from life to spending her nights hanging out with some hot guy who carries a gun around on the daily."
"We are, which is why we're making it your job to keep an eye on her." Jack announced, as though this was a plan they had already figured out.
"Don't you think I'm already doing that?"
"Yeah but we mean like getting involved in her life with him." Elliot added, causing me to look at him in disgust.
"I mean, I know three-way relationships are beginning to make the news but that's really not my thing." I remarked causing Elliot to start laughing.
"Not quite what we meant."
"Then what?!"
"Go hang out with them. I'm sure that household he lives in constantly has parties. If she's invited, make sure you are too." Jack said, while I gazed over at the three of them, waiting for them to tell me they were joking.
"You want me to go to some gang party?"
"You love a party, Soph!" Juliet grinned while nudging my side. "You'll have fun."
Sitting back in my chair, I let that thought process in my mind for a moment. As much as I did love a good party, attending one held by gang members with guns wasn't really on my bucket list. However, if it meant I could finally figure out what Isabella was really getting involved in and if she did need rescuing, then I was willing to do it.
"Sure, okay then. I'll get myself an invite but if I get killed then it's all of your faults."
"Cool, it's a deal." Jack replied casually while placing his hand onto the table.
Elliot did the same and placed his on top of Jack's, causing Juliet to follow suit. As all eyes then fell onto me, I finally gave in and placed mine on top of theirs as I promised to commit to the plan.
I hated the idea of Isabella getting caught up in this mess. She was innocent and incredibly impressionable. She didn't deserve her growing confidence to be ripped from her when she realised she had been completely played by a heartless being with a pretty face.
I wanted her to be happy but I wanted her to find that happiness in something a little less criminal and a lot more legal. There were hundreds of guys out there, so I still wasn't quite sure why she had made the most bizarre choice.
"Just don't get distracted, alright? The party is to keep your eyes on Isabella only." Jack warned, making implications based on his unfortunate knowledge of my weakness.
"How dare your, Jack Lawrence!" I gasped, while circling the imaginable shape of a halo over my head. "I am in a very... I mean partially committed relationship with my amazing boyfriend. No other boy could distract me."
As if on cue, my phone began buzzing on the table signalling a text and Alec's name was presented across the screen.
"Speaking of that amazing boyfriend, I have a date to get to."
Waving my phone at them, I grabbed my things before beginning to make my way out of the booth.
"I look forward to the phone call later when you're arguing and you claim it's over again." Elliot mocked and unfortunately, that had happened way too many times for me to accuse him of lying.
"Set your alarm for 2am sharp." I played along with a grin on my face, just about to wave them all goodbye and make my escape before Juliet jumped to her feet.
"Hey Soph, can you give me a lift home?" She practically pleaded and I immediately wondered why a lift home with her brother and Jack wasn't so appealing today.
"What are they up to this time?"
"All I know is that it involves lots of cars as I switched off after that. It'll be torture."
"Then consider me your much more enjoyable taxi ride home." I sang, hooking my arm through hers as we made our way out of the diner.
Juliet was like a little sister to me. Although we did hold very differently personalities, I loved the relationship that had grown between us. Being able to teach and guide her through these teenage years, having made many mistakes myself at her age to save her from the backlash, was incredibly fulfilling. I felt an intense need to protect her from everything, very much like the situation that was currently occurring with Isabella.

The Bad News Series has began to be edited over the past few months & is continuing to be over the next 2 years too! This means the chapters will likely change slightly and additional chapters will be added too so things may get a little confusing just while it's all sorted out. Lucy has help though so it hopefully won't stay that way for too too long!

This all also means all of those events and scenes we heard about but never got the full story will finally be addressed! All of the George/Isabella/Gang chapters will be edited (/have already started to be edited) but we'll also get more details on the other characters. This will either be added to the current chapters or in new ones.

ALSO I get to post any new chapters/new scenes onto the blog before they get put into the actual story on wattpad. As it's going to take a fair amount of time for all the chapters to get edited, you would have been waiting a LONG time between getting to see a new chapter. So instead, as new chapters/scenes are written, I am going to be posting them on here first and they will eventually be added to the book!

You can see all of the new covers for the books below:

My theory on the Sophie-Aaron situation!

With the recent chapter and an upcoming one, I wanted to give my theory on whether or not Sophie does truly still love/want to be with Aaron.

It's clear that she is bothered by the fact that he's planning on having a baby with his new girlfriend but is this just because he's not still waiting around for her?

Obviously it would be upsetting to see your ex have a happy life with someone else, especially if you still had feelings but it's so difficult to judge with Sophie. She loves attention from guys, we all know that. We also know that she loves when they still trail after her once she's ended a relationship and she makes a conscious effort to mess around with them a bit.

HOWEVER, is it different with Aaron?

He wasn't just some ex boyfriend. He was her husband and also her longest relationship. Yes, they had their ups and downs but there was no doubt that she really loved him.

It also needs to be remembered that their final breakup was over Aaron cheating on her. I know Sophie has done that in the past on Elliot and she has never been an angel but I think having Aaron do it to her would have come as a HUGE shock. It would have hurt her 100%. He is probably the one guy she trusted most. They went through a lot together.

I think because of that cheating incident and the way she dealt with it (acting like she didn't care and running off to New York to forget about everything) meant she never fully got over it. How could she have got real closure from their relationship when she left that abruptly. It's not possible in my opinion.

Therefore, I think when she left she did still care, she was still upset - she wouldn't have fallen out of love that easily. However, she just got on with life and created a whole new one for herself in New York.

That would have been fine if she had of stayed in New York. She may not have even flinched if she'd found out Aaron had another baby while she was continuing her life out there. It's the fact that she actually returned to Brighton and saw him face to face.

Every feeling she previously had for him MUST have come back. How could it not have done? Surely she never fully got closure from their relationship before.

THEREFORE, in my theory I think it does really bother her that he wants another baby with someone else. I think she is confused about how she feels about him. Don't get me wrong, I don't think she's 100% sure that she's in love with him and wants him back. I also think she does genuinely love Jace but I think coming back to Brighton has confused her so much.

She's going to have these feelings for Aaron, that's normal in my opinion as she's seeing him for the first time in ages. He's a comfort for her. That's why she feels so hurt and bothered by how quickly he's moved on even though she has too.

If he asked her if they could try again and he would leave Georgia do I think she would say yes? No, I don't. I definitely think she would spend a night with him but I think that would probably be her closure.

IF she does love him still I think she's smart enough to know it wouldn't work. They live two completely different lives. Aaron wouldn't move to New York and there is no way Sophie would move back to Brighton Therefore, I think this whole thing is just a slap in the face for her as she's realising that she's never going to be with him in that way anymore. It's made her realise that they can't play games anymore like they used to. They're older and both have to fully move on and be mature about it. It just so happens that Aaron's been the one to make that move this time.

But what about Aaron? I did find it kind of strange that he asked her about the baby thing. I get that he wanted her opinion on when to tell the kids and that he knew she would probably criticise him for making the wrong decision but surely he can handle it?

He's used to the criticism from her? So why can't he just shrug it off this time.

THEREFORE, part of me thinks that he wanted her to know and wanted to see her reaction. In a way I felt like he was shoving it in her face. That's what makes me question his feelings for her?

Did he want a reaction so he could have the upper hand for once? Or did he want a reaction because he wanted to see if she felt the same about him?

I don't know. I do think he's trying to move on but I'm not convinced he's fully over her. THE SCENE OUTSIDE THE PUB confirms that in my mind.

But yeah, that's just my theory!

I'm kind of sad because I love Sophie and Aaron together but I also think they are very toxic together too.

So I thought it would be cool to share a playlist for the characters... this list will be added to constantly because obviously I can't ...
