Bad Desire: New Generation Updates (p1)

"Where are you going?" Grace asked as Max strolled through the hallway with a gym bag slung over his shoulder.

She knew it was a stupid question, it was plain obvious where he was heading but Grace had a desperation to say something. They had communicated a maximum of about seven words to each other today and it was beginning to get painful.

She couldn't blame that all on him of course, a huge amount of it was her doing. Since they found out the news that had shocked them both, it seemed like neither of them really knew how to react. This hadn't been planned in the first place and they certainly hadn't felt ready. However, they had managed to become unexpectantly excited by the idea before it was suddenly ripped straight from them.

Grace had suffered a miscarriage.

They had found out at her second scan, so although it had been incredibly early days, it had still hit them pretty hard. Just as they begun to come to terms with the fact they were going to be parents again, they were then told that Grace had lost the baby.

"I'm going to the gym to train." Max replied as he held up his bag as a way of making that point clear, causing Grace to nod her head.

Since the news, things between them had been rough. Grace hadn't felt in the mood to make effort with Max and it seemed as though he was more happy to spend all of his time boxing.

For some reason, Grace felt like she was beginning to resent Max, even though she knew that none of this was his fault, it was neither of theirs.

She found herself feeling angry with him for absolutely no reason at all and they had begun to argue over the most stupidest things. It was becoming exhausting and things were so far from the way they used to be.

"Are you here tonight?" Max then asked as he hung in the doorway of his living room, with a bottle of water and car keys in hand.

"No, I'm going out tonight." Grace said, expecting him to have already guessed that.

Since going through the miscarriage, Grace had been making the most of being able to consume alcohol once again. She had been using it as a coping strategy and had started to relapse into her old ways. Her and Max were both big fans of nights out however, Grace was definitely earning her crown back of being the biggest party girl in Brighton.

"Cool." Max nodded, as though he really couldn't care less.

It was weird. This whole thing felt weird between them.

Their relationship had never been perfect. The both of them had taken some serious time to learn what it meant to be a part of one and had still been learning to this day. However, things had definitely plummeted since the miscarriage and there was no hiding the downfall and disinterest they were now feeling towards each other.

It was though somebody had flicked a switch and what had been the growth of them, was suddenly now doing the exact opposite and destroying everything they had piece by piece.
