Part 23 - Bad Desire: New Generation

"We need to talk." Todd instructed the moment he walked in Jay's door and headed straight for the living room.

He had called a meeting with Jay and Matt as he'd done some digging of his own to try and get to the bottom of this situation. With Todd not being so keen on the gang's original plan, he knew that he could do one better and figure it out his own way.

"Why with just us? You didn't give me chance to call anyone else." Jay asked, a little frustrated that Todd was going against how they usually worked.

"Because you're probably not gonna like what I've got to say and you also won't want it kicking off."

"So what is it, Todd?" Matt probed him to speak up, considering he could immediately tell that this wasn't going to be pretty.

"You lot are decent at what you do, but you're also thick as shit sometimes without Jess. She'd have figured this out, instead of having to get me to reveal it all to you."

"Figure what out, Todd?" Jay bit, already feeling as though he was purposely trying to push their buttons.

They had asked him to Brighton to help them, in hope that he would willingly do so without causing a scene. They knew they'd never seen eye to eye with him but hoped that as this whole thing impacted those he cared about too, that he'd be as civil as possible with it.

"Kye has this incredible plan to take you all down. He's built this 'so called' miracle gang yet he's an absolute idiot. So there is no chance that he actually thinks he can take you down."

"He only thinks he can take us down because he's got cocky with a few angry people backing him." Jay corrected Todd, without knowing he wasn't quite done yet.

"Nah, that's the thing, even he knows that the gang isn't good enough. His best bet is Lara and she's not capable of doing it alone."

"So what... what are you thinking?"

"I'm not thinking anything, I know." Todd remarked. "It's your parents. Kye has Rebecca and Jonathan Gibson backing him, that's why he is so cocky and sure of himself."

Todd's comment immediately caused Jay to start shaking his head.

"It's not them. They're old now man, they're not exactly in any position to still be working on the front line of this shit."

"They still work behind the scenes. You know they wouldn't just stop."

Rebecca and Jonathan Gibson had always been the most well known and feared members in this gang world. They were on top of the game in their time and they had never really stopped. Therefore, it made total sense to Todd that they would be the secret weapon behind this mess and he had ended up proving himself right.

"Why would they help Kye though? It doesn't make sense. They know he's useless, they're not getting anything from it." Matt added as he leaned forward in his seat.

"Of course they are. All of their son's but Kye turned on them. They have every motivation to try and fuck this gang over."

"Right, so if that's true then all of this shit changes. We're not dealing with amateurs anymore." Matt began with a slight panic behind his voice. "Which also means that Hunter can't have any part in this. This is a whole new level of shit that I'm not throwing him into."

When Jay was about to bite back with something to Matt, Todd managed to interrupt and save an argument breaking out... for now.

"That's not it though... it would never be that simple."

"So, what are you suggesting?" Jay sighed, feeling aggravated by Todd due to the simple fact that he had figured this all out as though it was easy.

This man may have been out of this gang world for a long time but he was still incredibly clued up on it. That alone had Jay suspicious.

"This life always follows the cliche movie without fail, really." Todd began, while spinning his phone around in his hand. "There is always that one person who you think you can trust but is actually screwing you over."

Matt and Jay were watching Todd intently, waiting on what he was about to reveal here. Although Jay had an inkling on what he was going to say, he was truly hoping it wasn't the case.

"You've got yourself a little spy lurking around and I think you could all take one guess who that could be."

"Don't say it." Jay bit, glaring at Matt as he opened his mouth. "It's not her."

"It is." Todd insisted and none of them really had to say anything, they all knew who they were talking about.

"Dude, come on. I wouldn't be surprised..." Matt trailed off, noticing how tense Jay was becoming. "You should have known."

"You think it's Jazmine." Jay finally spoke the words out loud and looked over at Todd with rage in his eyes.

He knew Jazmine was never the most trustworthy person in the world but he had trusted her word this time.

"I know it's her. She's screwing you all over amazingly. She knows this game well. I've always said that." Todd remarked, sounding completely unfazed.

"But why the fuck would she? It doesn't make sense why she would take Kye's side. She wants to have her name remembered, that's why she's working with us on this. She wants to help build this new generation of gang members." Jay continued to fight her corner with a bit of hope that he would prove Todd wrong.

"But think about it, this new generation you're building consists of your own blood. She doesn't have a kid involved in this. Her name won't be remembered." Todd argued back, taking some satisfaction in knocking Jay down.

Although Todd wasn't apart of this life anymore, he couldn't help but feel some satisfaction when he was on top once again. He had beaten this lot at figuring this out on his own. He still had the capabilities to do things that none of them could.

"Yeah, but what would she be getting out of helping Kye?" Jay asked the one question that Todd had been waiting for.

Letting out a long breath, he knew that this moment was going to come. He knew it was going to get out, he just hadn't exactly planned on when it would occur. He had wanted a little more time to prepare himself for all sorts of backlash, especially with Sophie, but that hadn't quite worked out.

"She's playing both sides. She's not on Kye's side and she's not on yours. She's on her own side." Todd began, while being watched intently by both Jay and Matt. "She's doing this for herself and her daughter. What better way to be remembered than to take you all down?"

"She doesn't have a daughter." Jay immediately cut in, now thinking Todd was even more insane. "She had a son but that's it."

"Nah, that's where you're wrong."

"And how the fuck would you know that?" Matt bit in, now also getting frustrated at his brother.

He knew Todd was smart but he couldn't help but feel like he knew too much for this to be real.

"Because she's my daughter too."
